We are looking for a new colleague to the family care unit.

We are a creative and committed team of six family home administrators, two contact secretaries, and an accessible unit manager. Everyone has extensive experience working with children and youth. It is natural for us to help each other and take joint responsibility for providing the best conditions for placed children and youth. We have a good and warm atmosphere among all units within our area where we support each other in maintaining good work for the children, youth, and families we meet.

The area for Children and Youth is part of the Social Department at Södermalm's district administration. The area consists of a children’s unit, investigation unit 0-20, youth unit, family law unit, and family care unit. The area is led by an area manager and four unit managers. The area has three coordinators who provide support in operational matters and introduction to new employees, and we also have a school coordinator and a SIP coordinator, totaling about 50 employees in the area. We are located in pleasant premises in Hammarby Sjöstad with a fantastic view over Södermalm.

Your role

As a social worker in family care, you work either as the child's caseworker or the family home caseworker.

Your main tasks are to follow up on placed children and to supervise family homes. You work in a team with family home administrators or child caseworkers and together with other colleagues in the unit. When new or changed interventions are needed, you investigate the child's needs.

You have continuous support from your unit manager and your colleagues and regular external supervision in your work. Everyone who starts in the unit receives an individual introduction plan.

The work involves travel within the local area and sometimes also travel within the country.

Your qualifications and experience

For this position, you are required to have:

  • a degree in social work
  • good knowledge of current legislation in relevant areas and its application
  • the ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • experience in investigating children and youth
  • a driver's license

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • experience in investigating and supervising family homes
  • further education in systemic family work, solution-oriented approaches, network work.
  • supervisor training to supervise family homes
  • training in conversations with children

We want you to enjoy a role with a lot of responsibility and have a good ability to plan and drive work forward. We are looking for someone who sees the challenge in being able to handle complex cases and share knowledge and experiences with your colleagues. You have a good demeanor and an understanding of the people you meet in your professional role, which obviously requires a very good ability to collaborate.

The position includes taking on extra assignments such as School Family representative, MI-coach, child rights representative, or contact person with various operations.
